At Emmanuel, children are always welcome in worship services. We also offer age-appropriate activities during the 10 AM service. Please join us for this special time of worship and learning!
Children's Worship meets every Sunday during the 10:00 amservice. We split Children's Worship into two age-based groups. One group (Children's Chapel) is for our youngest children about 18 months through 1st grade and our second group (Kid's Liturgy) is for 2nd through 5th graders.
Children meet in the nursery or parish hall and then return to the nursery or join their parents in church at the peace.
In Kid’s Liturgy, the children are each given a Kid’s Liturgy folder with the readings and prayers for the day. Each week the kids read an Opening Prayer, First Reading, Psalm, Gospel reading, Nicene Creed and Prayers of the Young People. These readings track as closely as possible with the reading in “big church” with some exchanges for more appropriate material. Each week, the kids volunteer to read aloud. The adult leader leads them in discussion to retell the events and to ponder the lesson of the stories. Our kids of Emmanuel share beautiful insights into our Old and New Testament readings.
