The Reverend Sarah Brockenbrough called to Emmanuel!
Emmanuel Church is pleased to announce the call of the Rev. Mignon Sarah Brockenbrough as Assistant to the Rector. Sarah expects to begin her full-time ministry with us on 1 October. Rev. Brockenbrough comes to us from Bruton Parish, Williamsburg, where she served as Associate Rector for Family Ministries. A native of Savannah, Georgia, Sarah was Youth Director at Christ Church Episcopal, Savannah, before attending Virginia Theological Seminary. Rev. Brockenbrough earned her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt and a graduate degree in historic preservation at the University of Georgia. At Emmanuel, Sarah will share in all aspects of parish ministry, with particular focus in leading ministry to visitors and newcomers, Christian formation, and outreach ministry. Sarah is married to Will Brockenbrough; they live at historic Woodson’s Mill, near Lowesville in Nelson County.
Rev. Brockenbrough was selected after a national search. A huge thank you to our reading committee who offered wisdom, insight, and vision throughout our discernment process: Sally Wallace (vestry liaison); Dan Chatman; Jess Haden; and Doris Savage.
Welcome, Sarah: together, “May we live in Christ and seek to do His work from this place”!
