About Shrine Mont
For nearly 75 years, Shrine MontConference Center – part of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia – has welcomed those who seek “a place apart for rest, devotion and fellowship.”
Located in the quiet village of Orkney Springs, VA, it is at the foot of the Great North Mountain, part of the Appalachian chain of the Allegheny Mountains.
Shrine Mont had its beginnings in the early part of the 20th century through the vision and hard work of Dr. Edmund Lee Woodward. He dreamed of accommodating guests in a natural setting for worship and reflection from which they could return to their everyday life rested and “inspired to serve Christ and his Church.” True to the vision of its founder, Shrine Mont offers a place apart from the distractions of modern life. Shrine Mont also offers many forms of recreation, including swimming, tennis, and hiking. Golf and fishing are available at nearby Bryce Resort.
