The Haven
Emmanuel is pleased to support The Haven as a mission partner!
With respite for the weary, transformation for the ready as its motto, The Haven is a dynamic, multi-purpose community space that offers a day shelter and housing-focused programs for the homeless and very poor of our community. It enhances our city by providing a centralized location for resource providers, a commercial kitchen, a day haven, a community garden, and a cultural and arts space in downtown Charlottesville. The Haven is in a beautifully renovated church and annex building, across from Lee Park and one block from the public library.
The Haven has adopted a Housing First approach to ending homelessness. We understand that homelessness is a housing crisis, and the solution to homelessness is housing. With this in mind, we facilitate Homeless Prevention, Coordinated Assessment, Housing Navigation, Housing Stabilization, and coordinate with Thrive to administer Rapid Re-Housing. To find out more, visit the Housing First Programs page.
The Haven relies on the goodwill, expertise and time of many members of our community. To date, our volunteers have donated more than100,000 hours of service at our day shelter and in our kitchen and garden. We would love to have your help!
Volunteer opportunities are available in The Haven’s day shelter, kitchen and community garden. To get involved, visit The Haven's website.
